As the 2006 film "An Inconvenient Truth" opens, we see Earth Rise, the famous photo taken on Christmas Eve 1968 by Apollo 8 astronauts. Al Gore then begins with these words: “I've been trying to tell this story for a long time, and I feel as if I've failed to get the message across."
