These are the pants Hitler was wearing on July 20, 1944, when he survived the detonation of a bomb in a staff meeting at his East Prussian military headquarters.

A briefcase containing the bomb had been placed beneath a conference table near Hitler, but the briefcase was moved behind a thick wooden table leg which shielded him from the blast.
