In 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis from New York to Paris, a city in which Black American Josephine Baker reigned supreme, in the hearts of many, who flocked to see her dance in her banana costume at the Folies Bergere.
Later in 1927, Baker became the first Black woman to star in a major motion picture.
