When the objective truth is on one side or another, it might appear partisan. Politicians have always angled or framed national security this way or that in favor of their political objectives. But the Nixon Viet Nam example and the Reagan Iran Contra example cross the line into treason - working actively against our nation’s interests to benefit one politically. I can’t think of a Democratic example, can you?

They did this with Carter as well. Held the Iran hostage until one minute after Ronald Reagan was sworn in. Always dirty tricks with the Republicans.
