Photo of the Day

No. 645
1

Eisenhower’s suggestion for Father’s Day.

Have a barbeque.

Outdoor grilling is a manly thing to do.

And none did it better than Ike.

This man of great achievement was legendary in the kitchen.

It was a pastime he learned from his mom.

Ike’s fishing trips included outdoor fish fries of the day’s catch.

And even life in the White House didn’t stop Ike from finding time to grill a steak up on the third floor.

The Eisenhower Presidential Library contains his old personal cookbook.

It’s filled with recipes from friends, scraps torn from newspapers, and his own originals.

[I don’t know about Bill’s Duck Goop?!]

The recipes Ike loved most have the most spills and splotches.

Pro tip: a clean cookbook is one that is never used.

Ike and Hoover.

So, ignore the heat and fire up the barbie.

A thick sirloin steak, corn on the cob and Idaho potatoes all cook nicely on hot coals.

Just follow Ike’s recipes.

And, as you wait for the fire to do its magic, sit back, relax, and enjoy a scotch and soda.

That’s what Ike would do.

I’ll see you tomorrow.
