And we in Europe must never forget the ultimate sacrifice of all those American, Canadian and many, many other countries' service personnel both in the Great War and then again in the Second World War and the liberation of Europe.

If I had been in charge, I would have forgiven the debt years earlier.
The British effort aided US security interests, a point which many in America still struggle to understand.
